Scotland's Broadband Bus
The Broadband Bus is a luxury coach which has been kitted out as an
educational environment to demonstrate the value of broadband and IT
systems to business and community.
Equipped with 10 IT enabled workplaces and a presenters location, the
bus can operate completely independently of power supplies and internet
connections, having it's own generator and a self-aligning satellite
system. It can connect to the public mains supply, IT networks and external
broadband connections.
The Broadband Bus came about as a joint enterprise between Glenco (part
of Glenrothes College), the Scottish Executive, Scottish Enterprise
and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
Internet Consultancy Ltd has been involved with the Broadband Bus since
it's introduction and has staffed the bus in various locations around
Ayrshire, most recently having been contracted to plan and execute visits
by the Broadband Bus to rural Ayrshire locations which have recently
benefitted from the introduction of Broadband, bringing to the businesses
in those communites an opportunity to meet, on their own doorstep, with
Scottish Enterprise e-Business Advisors and Business Gateway Advisors.
